The name
Why we chose Bunya
The Bunya pine (Araucaria bidwillii) is a native of south-east Queensland - a tree that has stood on this continent since before the continent was named. Its trunks rise straight and tall. Its cones are enormous.
Every three years, the cones drop in abundance - and for thousands of years, Aboriginal peoples from across eastern Australia travelled hundreds of kilometres to gather at the Bunya groves. They came to share food, resolve disputes, trade knowledge, and build ties across language groups.
That's the kind of business we're building. Enduring. Abundant. A place where clients, engineers, and partners come together around shared outcomes - not hourly invoices.

Daniel has spent 15+ years in enterprise IT - as a network tech at Shell, a Canvas app developer at Queensland Police, a lead developer at Ausgrid rebuilding a 1,000-user app, a senior Power Platform consultant at Velrada, and a lead on ActewAGL's DER Portal.
The pattern he kept seeing: organisations paying consulting firms by the hour to solve problems that could have been shipped in a week. He started Bunya to build the opposite - a partnership model where clients pay for outcomes, work is transparent, and the same engineers who built the solution stay around to support it.
Today, Daniel leads Bunya from south-east Queensland - the same country where the Bunya pine has stood for millennia.
